Loss Assessment & Management-Request
Your Participation:
Dr. Margaret Wallhagen Professor, Department of Physiological
Nursing and Director of the UCSF John A. Hartford
Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence is conducting this study
to
find
out what
would help nurses in working with older adults with
hearing loss and their families. Dr. Wallhagen has included
an invitation
for you to participate in a survey that will take
about 10 minutes.
Dear ANA/C Member,
Do you care for or work
with older adults who have a hearing loss?
Hearing loss is a common
problem experienced by older adults and its prevalence increases
with age. Given the increasing
numbers of older adults, nurses need to be aware of how to
assess and manage hearing loss to facilitate communication.
You
are being contacted because I am interested in developing educational
programs that would help nurses work with older
adults with hearing loss and their families. As a result, I
am doing a survey to assess how nurses understand hearing loss
and how comfortable they feel dealing with hearing loss, hearing
aids and other assistive listening devices so that appropriate
educational material can be developed.
The survey asks about your understanding
of hearing loss and whether you have the knowledge
and skills to deal with issues that arise, such ashow to change
a hearing
aid battery or stop a hearing aid from whistling.
The survey should take no more than 10 minutes to complete.
All responses
will be anonymous; no names or other identifying
information will be collected.
If you are willing to participate, please
visit the zoomerang
survey site
You are free not to respond to the survey.
If you have any questions or are interested in hearing about
the results of the survey you may contact:
