  • ANA Strategic Goals:
    On June 11th the ANA Board of Directors approved the 2014-2016 Strategic Goals. You may review the brochure here and print copies can be obtained by contacting Tina McRae Phelps.

  • ANA Safe Patient Handing Urge Action on Capitol Hill:
    A press release from ANA President Karen Daley urges action on a bill that would reduce injuries by eliminating manual patient lifting and require employers to implement a safe patient handling and mobility plan. This bill is entitled Nurse and Health Care Worker Protection Act of 2013 (H.R. 2480) To read the bill visit http://thomas.loc.gov

  • AANP Request For Proposals:
    The American Association of Nurse Practitioners is interested in supporting a program of research focused on understanding the contributions and patient outcomes associated with NP practice in the U.S. Investigators should submit a brief summary concept paper no later than 8:00 am CST on July 21st. Read the requirement for the RFP.

  • American Nurses Foundation-Honor An Nurse Program:
    The ANF, a national charity, focused on transforming the nation's health through the power of nursing, recently relaunched "honor a nurse" a program designed to ensure that nurses know they are respected and valued by patients, families, and the broader community.   • Forensic Nurses Become ANA Affiliate:
    On June 9th ANA announced that the International Association of Forensic Nurses whose members specialize in applying nursing science to criminal cases or legal proceedings, has joined ANA as an organizational affiliate. These two organizations have published Forensic Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice.

  • ANA Sells NDNQI to Press Ganey:
    ANA has found a partner in press Ganey who shares its mission of improving patient care through the power of nursing sensitive data measurement, collection and comparison. This strategic alignment will enhance the power of nursing data, generate even better normative comparisons and allow for expanded linkages to outcomes. They have provided a list of FAQs.

  • ANA Releases New Edition of Psych-Mental Scope of Practice:
    On June 18th the ANA released the 2nd edition of "Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice." If you would like to review a copy of this book contact Cynthia Lee.

  • Call for Nurse Practitioners in Survey Research:
    The Association of Nurses in AIDS Care is conducting a survey to help to better understand the knowledge nurses have about laws regarding HIV exposure and transmission and the impact of these laws on the patient-provider relationship. The survey takes about 15 minutes. The University of Ottawa Research Ethics Board has approved this study. Take the survey.

  • Tips for Using Social Media:
