About the Event

Join ANA\C Fellows, Gilanie De Castro and Rebekah Long as they host a panel discussing barriers to Employer Responsibility. The focus will be on the Operations & Logistics behind implementing mental health services and solutions (policy or otherwise) and what might impede the institutions' ability to do so.

Objectives:

1. Understand who and what is needed to implement new services and solutions

2. Realize policies impeding access to mental health care.

3. Learn what some organizations are doing to support their nurses

Meet the Panel:

 

Dr. Dan Weberg, PhD, RN

Dr. Dan Weberg is an expert in nursing, healthcare innovation and human-centered patient design with extensive clinical experience in emergency departments, acute in-patient hospital settings and academia. He served as the Vice President for Transformation Services at Ascension, supporting 60,000 nurses and 140+ facilities in modernizing nursing technology, developing new care models, and measuring innovation outcomes. Previously he was Head of Clinical Innovation for Trusted Health, the staffing platform for the healthcare industry, where he helped drive product strategy and worked to change the conversation around innovation in the healthcare workforce.

Dr. Crystal Lawson DNP, RN, CENP

Dr. Crystal Lawson is an expert in nursing and leadership development at all levels, with extensive experience in the national leadership development space. She currently provides consulting services to equip, inspire, and empower leaders to generate positive disruption. Dr. Lawson served as the Senior Director for Nursing Leadership Development at Ascension, serving >60K nurses. Previously, she was the Education Director for the American Organization for Nursing Leadership (AONL), where she was responsible for the development, implementation and evaluation of AONL’s educational programs and services for leadership development of nurses at all levels. Prior to AONL she worked at the University of Tennessee Medical Center where she held a variety of clinical and administrative roles, including clinical nurse, nurse manager and Director of Nursing Education and Professional Development.

Dr. Allyson Mayo DBH

Dr. Allyson Mayo is a Doctor of Behavioral Health and Founder of Behavioral Fitness™ - a growing organization focused on bringing tools and resources from the behavioral sciences to the mainstream. She is a visionary innovator with over 30 years of experience specializing in Addiction Medicine, Healthcare Systems, social/personal determinants of health, and behavioral economics. She has developed groundbreaking tools, programs, lectures, and workshops based not only on her vast professional experience but also on her own extraordinary journey that started as a curious teen who left her family and everything familiar to find herself. Dr. Mayo serves as Chair of the Board for USF School of Nursing and Health Professions. Dr. Mayo is recognized nationally for her innovations in the areas of mental and behavioral health.

Teri DeLamontanya BSN, RN, CEN, NE-BC

Teri DeLaMontanya is a nurse leader, certified emergency nurse, and Co-founder of Behavioral Fitness™. Teri brings 30 years of healthcare experience specializing in emergency services, transformation leadership and improvement science. From the ambulance to the bedside to the boardroom, Teri has served in a variety of leadership roles, including Director of Emergency Services and as a Transformation Leader at a top-ranked health system in Northern California. She has been formally recognized for her compassionate leadership. Her team-oriented approach, along with a successful track record of achieving goals, has made Teri a sought-after leader and collaborator. Inspired by her own lived experiences, Teri is passionate about growing Behavioral Fitness™ and bringing tools and resources from the behavioral sciences to the mainstream.

Jana Bitton MPA

Jana Bitton is the Executive Director of the Oregon Center for Nursing (OCN). Bitton’s work in nursing began in 2009 when she joined OCN as a Program Manager leading the Nurturing Cultural Competence in Nursing (NCCN) program, an initiative funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the Northwest Health Foundation designed to create tools to increase cultural competence among nurses in various settings. As the NCCN program came to a close, Bitton moved into the role of Program Director of the StudentMAX® Clinical Placement Program. This software program is used throughout the nation to facilitate the work of schools and clinical sites in arranging student clinical placements. Bitton led the program through a significant technological overhaul, and helped with the transfer of the program into a for-profit organization.

Meet the Hosts:

Gilanie De Castro BSN, RN, OCN, NE-BC, CNML

Gilanie is an experienced Nursing Leader with a demonstrated history of working in the health care industry. She is skilled in Nursing Management, Leadership, Clinical Research, Oncology Nursing, and Patient Care and is pursuing an MSN focused in Nursing Leadership and Management from Western Governors University.

Rebekah Long MSN, RN

Rebekah Long is a geriatric RN who is passionate about reducing the stigma of mental health amongst health care professionals and providing resources to nurses struggling with maintaining a balanced mental/emotional wellbeing. She earned her Master's of Nursing from John Hopkins School of Nursing.
