Event Overview:

Join our masterclass to elevate your voice in news and journalism. This live, intermediate-level media training will build upon your foundational message-creation strategies, helping you engage effectively with journalists, reporters, and public relations teams.

You can expect to gain newfound confidence and practical skills to help you earn media opportunities during our two-hour interactive event featuring a series of educational sessions, breakout rooms, simulated interviews, templates, and resources.

How can you amplify your voice on important issues for nurses and the public? This masterclass equips you with the skills to seize media opportunities within and beyond your healthcare organization. Through hands-on practice, you'll master proven tactics for impactful media engagement, empowering you to drive meaningful change and achieve key milestones in your journey as a spokesperson for nurses.

Objectives:

  1. Media Proficiency: Learn to differentiate the benefits and limitations of various media and audience types, while gaining a working knowledge of earned media pitching strategies and editorial guidelines.
  2. Media Engagement: Learn tactics for successful media interviews and compelling communication that explains complex concepts using accessible language and resonates with diverse audiences.
  3. Media Outreach: Collaborate with your health institution's public relations team to coordinate media opportunities and conduct outreach to journalists by pitching story ideas and participating in simulated interviews.

Meet the Trainers:

Jared Fesler is the Communications and Programs Manager at the American Nurses Association\California. He brings a wealth of marketing experience to his role with a proven track record of success in developing and executing strategic communications plans and implementing programs that support the organization's mission. His business and marketing skills have made him a valuable asset to the ANA\California team, where he has been instrumental in increasing engagement and awareness of the organization's campaigns and developing new value propositions for its members. Before ANA\California, Jared co-founded media startup Credder.com in 2016 and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in Business and Marketing from CSU, Chico in 2013.

Chelsea Gianna is currently the Communications and Membership Coordinator with the American Nurses Association\ California and works alongside nurses to help coach and share their journey through social media platforms and media. 

Chelsea is a visionary photographer and social media strategist who specializes in brand identity and portraiture out of Sacramento, CA. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for capturing the essence of a brand, Chelsea creates compelling visual narratives that resonate with audiences and leave a lasting impression.

With years of experience in the industry, Chelsea has collaborated with a diverse range of clients, from small startups to established corporations incorporating celebrity clients such as country music artist and actress, Jana Kramer,  social media influencer, Karlie Rae Lang, AJ McClean of the Backstreet Boys helping them define and showcase their unique identities through photography and content creation. Chelsea has learned her trade through years of experience and training from celebrity sensation, Paris Hilton.

Whether it's crafting striking product shots, capturing authentic moments in lifestyle photography, or conceptualizing creative campaigns with the American Nurses Association\ California, Chelsea approaches each project with dedication and enthusiasm, ensuring that every image reflects the brand's values and resonates with its target audience.
